Hindware's 'Build a Toilet, Build Her Future' Initiative: Empowering Girls Through Sanitation

Hindware Limited, India’s leading bathware brand, is driving impactful social change with its "Build a Toilet, Build Her Future" program. Launched in 2020 under the #HygieneThatEmpowers CSR initiative, this year's campaign embraces the inspiring "Dare to Dream" theme. It aims to empower girls by providing access to safe and hygienic sanitation, ensuring they stay in school and work towards a brighter future.

Addressing a Critical Need
Inadequate sanitation facilities in rural India remain a significant barrier to education, especially for girls. Studies show that 23% of girls drop out of school upon reaching puberty due to the lack of proper facilities. Research by Sulabh International further highlights that poor sanitation leads to absenteeism of up to 60 days annually during menstruation.

To tackle this issue, Hindware has partnered with the Pune-based NGO Manas Foundation and local communities to construct over 400 toilets across 120+ schools in Delhi, Haryana, Roorkee, and Telangana. By the end of FY25, the program aims to add 100 more toilets, directly benefiting thousands of girls and ensuring uninterrupted access to education.

Sharing Stories, Inspiring Change
The program also harnesses the power of social media to amplify its impact. Hindware shares transformative stories of young girls whose lives have changed through improved sanitation facilities. These stories aim to raise awareness, inspire action, and encourage broader community support for girls’ education.

Leadership Speaks
Mr. Sudhanshu Pokhriyal, CEO of Hindware Limited's Bath and Tiles Business, emphasized the program's vision:
"This year's 'Dare to Dream' theme reflects the essence of our mission to empower girls. Every toilet built and school reached brings us closer to a future where girls can focus on their education and aspirations. We remain dedicated to expanding this initiative to create a more equitable India."

Mr. Shashvat Somany, Head of Strategy at Somany Impresa Group and Independent Director at Hindware Limited, added:
"As we mark five years of the 'Build a Toilet, Build Her Future' campaign, our commitment to improving sanitation and supporting girls' education is stronger than ever. By ensuring girls stay in school, we are investing in the nation's future. This progress is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our partners and communities."
