Hyderabad: In a significant development, prominent actors, directors, and producers from the Telugu film industry convened with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday morning (December 26, 2024). The meeting, held at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad, aimed to discuss measures to establish a "healthy atmosphere" between the industry and the State administration.
The initiative was facilitated by Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) Chairman V. Venkata Ramana Reddy, popularly known as Dil Raju. The gathering included key officials from the State, such as Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Director General of Police Jitender.
Prominent personalities from the film industry who attended included veteran actors Akkineni Nagarjuna and Daggubati Venkatesh, alongside young stars like Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Kiran Abbavaram. Leading producers Allu Aravind and Daggubati Suresh Babu, as well as celebrated directors K. Raghavendra Rao, Trivikram Srinivas, Boyapati Srinu, and Vamshi Paidipally, also participated in the dialogue.
This meeting comes in the wake of recent tensions between the State government and the Telugu film industry, sparked by incidents such as the stampede at Sandhya Theatre during a benefit show for Pushpa 2 and the subsequent arrest of actor Allu Arjun. These events raised concerns about public safety and regulatory oversight during film events.
During the discussions, both sides reportedly shared their perspectives on maintaining safety at film screenings, improving infrastructure for the entertainment sector, and addressing bureaucratic challenges faced by the industry.
The meeting marks a crucial step in strengthening the bond between the Telugu film fraternity and the Telangana government, ensuring collaborative efforts to address mutual concerns while promoting the growth of the industry.
