Harish Rao Criticizes Government for Telangana’s Declining Real Estate Trends

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao held the Congress government responsible for the decline in Telangana's real estate sector. On Friday, January 31, he alleged that under Congress rule, farmers, weavers, auto drivers, and now real estate builders are being driven to suicide due to inefficient governance and a failure to ensure economic stability.

Referring to the tragic suicide of a builder in Medchal district, Harish Rao remarked that Hyderabad, which once thrived as a real estate hub under BRS governance, has now turned into a graveyard for builders due to the mismanagement of the current government.

The former Telangana finance minister attributed the collapse of the real estate sector to a series of reckless decisions, including demolition drives by HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency) against legally approved constructions, inconsistent policies on Pharma City and Hyderabad Metro corridors, forced payments for building approvals, lack of new investments, and deteriorating law and order.

Taking a swipe at Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao pointed out his past as a realtor. “Revanth Reddy once boasted about his expertise in real estate as a realtor. But today, his misgovernance is wrecking the sector,” Rao posted on X. He warned that if decisive measures are not taken, the state could face further decline.

Telangana Risks Losing 1,462 PG Medical Seats: Harish Rao

On January 29, Harish Rao urged the Telangana government to approach the Supreme Court's constitutional bench to challenge its decision regarding the removal of the state’s local quota in postgraduate medical admissions.

He called for the Assembly to pass a resolution in support of retaining the local quota and to pressure the Centre to safeguard the state's seat allocation. “Out of 2,924 PG seats in Telangana, the 50% local quota ensures 1,462 seats for state students. If the local quota is removed, Telangana students will lose these seats to the All-India quota,” Rao explained.

He further warned that the removal of the PG in-service quota and reservations for BC, SC, and ST students could adversely affect southern states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.
