This is not the state budget," Kishan Reddy responds to those questioning what Telangana received in the Union Budget.

Hyderabad: In response to criticism from Telangana's political parties claiming the Centre's Union Budget offers nothing to the state, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy clarified that the Union Budget is not the state budget. He referred to the budget, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as the "dream budget of the poor," highlighting several provisions that would benefit Telangana.

Reddy pointed out that the income tax exemption for annual incomes up to Rs 12 lakh would provide significant relief to the middle class. He also noted that Rs 1.5 lakh crore has been allocated for the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, with Telangana set to receive a portion of these benefits. Additionally, he mentioned Rs 10,000 crore earmarked for startups, which would also support Telangana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Furthermore, Reddy emphasized the importance of interest-free loans to state governments for up to 50 years, which he believes will greatly benefit Telangana's development.

He also announced that Telangana would receive Rs 10,000 crore as an urban state, along with funds under the AMRIT scheme to support urban infrastructure and development.

However, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized the 2025 Union Budget, presented on February 1, stating that it offered very little to Telangana.
