Hyderabad: Man Arrested for Printing and Circulating Fake Currency, ₹11.1 Lakh Seized
The Hyderabad City Police arrested a man on Saturday, February 1, for printing and distributing counterfeit Indian currency. The accused, identified as 38-year-old Pabbati Murali Krishna from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, was apprehended near Sri Ganesh Tiffin Centre at Bazar Ghat, under Nampally police station limits.
During the operation, the police seized counterfeit currency worth ₹11,10,500 in ₹500 denominations, along with printing materials and other incriminating evidence.
According to officials, Murali Krishna utilized his graphic design expertise to manufacture fake currency and distributed it in metro cities with the assistance of his associates. He has a history of similar offenses and was previously arrested three times for counterfeiting, including cases registered at Kavali police station in Andhra Pradesh and Begum Bazar police station in Hyderabad. He was released on surety bonds after those arrests.
Police revealed that the accused exchanged counterfeit currency worth ₹1 lakh in return for ₹14,000. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
