SC Categorization Welcomed; Advocate Protection Act Must Be Approved: Lawyers’ Forum Working President Narri Swami Kurum
Hyderabad: The Telangana State All Bar Associations Federation Working President, Y. Srinivasa Chari, along with City Civil Court Bar Association President, unveiled the Lawyers’ Forum Social Justice Calendar in the premises of the Telangana High Court and City Civil Court. On this occasion, Narri Swami Kurum, the Working President of Lawyers’ Forum and a prominent advocate of the Telangana High Court, emphasized the importance of justice and the need for legislative reforms.
Speaking on the event, Y. Srinivasa Chari lauded Narri Swami’s commitment to both his legal practice and social awareness. "Compiling data of lawyers across the state and creating a calendar that reflects their contributions is a commendable initiative. Narri Swami deserves appreciation for his relentless work for social justice," he said.
Narri Swami Kurum expressed satisfaction over the recent Assembly’s approval of SC categorization, terming it a progressive step. However, he urged the government to pass the Advocate Protection Act in the ongoing Cabinet session. "It’s a significant day to unveil this calendar at the City Civil Court, where I served as an advocate representing marginalized communities. The Advocate Protection Act is essential to safeguard the rights and dignity of lawyers," he said.
He further appealed for social justice in the judicial system, including equitable representation in judge appointments, Bar Council elections, and Bar Association leadership roles.
The event witnessed participation from senior and junior advocates, including Telangana All Bar Association Working President Srinivasulu Chari, General Secretary Harshavardhan, Joint Secretary Ramesh Kumar, Executive Members V. Madhusudan, Sarita Mishra, Ashok, Senior Advocates Nagabhushanam, Hanumanth Patel, Parashuram, and Junior Advocates Suman Babu and Balakrishna.
The unveiling of the calendar symbolizes the forum’s commitment to justice and equality while setting a roadmap for addressing lawyers' welfare and judicial reforms in Telangana.
