Hyderabad: Woman Allegedly Beaten by Police in Nizamabad While Attempting to File Complaint About Stolen Purse
A shocking incident has emerged from Nizamabad district in Telangana, where a woman was allegedly beaten by a police officer when she tried to report a stolen purse. Boyi Bhagya, from Dupally village in Renjal mandal, was attending the Jankampet Brahmotsavam fair with her family. While at the fair, her son asked her to buy a belt, and when she searched for her purse, which contained Rs 300 and her house keys, she found it missing.
In a video confession, Boyi Bhagya explained that she first approached the on-duty police officers at the fair but was unable to locate her purse. She then went to the Bodhan Rural police station to register a complaint. Upon arrival, the police showed her a purse and asked if it belonged to her. Bhagya denied it, stating it was not hers.
After leaving the station, Bhagya met another woman who claimed to have witnessed the purse being stolen. However, when Bhagya tried to take the woman to the police, the woman retracted her statement.
Frustrated by the situation, Circle Inspector (CI) Vijay Kumar allegedly assaulted Boyi Bhagya with a baton, leaving visible bruises on her body. On February 14, Bhagya filed a complaint against the CI at the Yedapally Police Station. The Yedapally Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that the complaint has been forwarded to the Bodhan Assistant Commissioner of Police and is currently under investigation.
