Hyderabad: TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud Challenges Bandi Sanjay on BC Quota Bill and Caste Survey
On Monday, February 17, Mahesh Kumar Goud, President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), challenged Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar to push the Centre to include the Telangana Assembly's proposed Bill to increase Backward Classes (BC) reservation to 42 percent in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution of India. Goud also asked if Sanjay had the courage to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct a nationwide caste survey.
Goud was addressing the TPCC’s OBC executive meeting at the party's headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. He responded to Sanjay's accusations that the Congress party was not sincere in fulfilling its election promise of increasing the BC quota.
Special Assembly Session for BC Reservation Bill
The TPCC President confirmed that a special session of the Telangana Assembly would be convened next month to pass the 42 percent BC reservation Bill. He assured that the Congress government would not only pass the Bill in the Assembly but would also take a delegation of leaders, regardless of their party affiliations, to meet Prime Minister Modi in support of the proposal.
Mahesh Kumar Goud on BC Unity and Future Leadership
Goud emphasized the importance of unity within the BC community, stating that the future belongs to them. He questioned if parties like BJP and BRS could ever make a BC leader the Chief Minister of Telangana, asserting that only the Congress party could achieve that.
He also highlighted that the caste census was conducted in line with the aspirations of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and opened a new chapter in the welfare of BCs. Goud recalled the passing of the Kamareddy BC declaration under his leadership and criticized BRS leaders, particularly the KCR family, accusing them of exploiting BCs for personal gain and commissions.
Arun Subhash Chandra Yadav Congratulates CM Revanth Reddy on Caste Survey
Meanwhile, former Union Minister of State Arun Subhash Chandra Yadav met with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday to congratulate him on conducting a comprehensive caste survey. Yadav expressed his support for using the survey data to empower the OBC community and congratulated Reddy on behalf of the all-India OBC community and the Madhya Pradesh Yadav Samaj.
