Nagaland banks continue protest against the Union Govt's decision to privatise banks

Kohima, Dec 17 (UNI) The banking services throughout Nagaland paralysed for the second day today following the strike of Bank employees as the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU), Nagaland committee joined with the rest of the bank unions across the country on a two-day strike.

According to a release issued by the UFBU, an umbrella body of nine bank unions, had called a two-day bank strike as the Union Government had decided to introduce the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021 during the ongoing Winter Session of the Parliament. The UFBU called for the strike to protest against the Union Government's decision to privatise several banks in the country.

All bank employees of public sector banks (PSBs) including the SBI participated on day one of the strike at the State Bank of India (SBI) Regional Business Office in Dimapur were closed and other nationalised banks throughout the state remained closed for public service.
