October 16, 2023 - In a significant political development, former Congress minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has officially joined the Beloved Revolutionary Struggle (BRS) party in the lead-up to the highly anticipated Telangana Assembly elections. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who recently cited 'humiliation' of senior leaders in the Congress party's candidate selection process, made his formal entry into the BRS during a public gathering known as Praja Ashirvada Sabha, marking the launch of the BRS's election campaign.

The event, which was part of an extensive campaign initiated from KCR's 'lucky constituency' in Husnabad, Siddipet district, saw the presence of K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana and leader of the BRS party.

During the gathering, BRS minister Errabelli Dayankar extended a warm welcome to Ponnala Lakshmaiah and other newly inducted leaders. Notably, he acknowledged the outgoing Jangaon MLA, Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, who gracefully stepped aside to allow Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to contest from the Jangaon constituency. Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy has been appointed as the chairman of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

The event witnessed Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's arrival via helicopter, with a massive gathering of nearly one lakh people warmly welcoming him and celebrating the occasion.

Addressing the crowd, KCR commended MLC and Rythu Bandhu Samiti chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, who is set to contest from Jangaon, for his deep understanding of the district's critical needs. Rajeshwar Reddy expressed his unwavering confidence in KCR's commitments and highlighted the fulfillment of electoral promises made in 2018. He also took the opportunity to request KCR's support for various initiatives in the district, including the establishment of a revenue division in Cherial, a food processing unit, an R&B office, Kala Bhavan, a medical college, and a junior college.

Responding to Rajeshwar Reddy's appeal, KCR emphasized that Jangaon holds a top priority in his development agenda, following Hyderabad and Warangal.

In his address, KCR urged the public not to trust political parties that make grandiose promises during election time, asserting that the BRS is the only party that has successfully executed ambitious projects like Kaleshwaram, which had remained a distant dream for several years. He further highlighted the BRS's commitment to providing 24-hour power supply to farmers, eliminating bureaucratic obstacles and allowing Telangana farmers to have full ownership of their lands.

KCR also took a swipe at the Congress party, suggesting that they should have a 'Kabzedaar column' in their manifesto, insinuating that the party is making false promises to gain minority votes in the Jubilee Hills area.

The BRS party's manifesto includes a range of promises, such as offering free life insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakhs for each family below the poverty line (BPL), progressively increasing financial assistance to farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme over the next five years, and providing LPG cylinders at a reduced cost of Rs. 400. KCR also highlighted the BRS's commitment to empowering the people through a scheme similar to Rythu Bheema, offering insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakhs.

KCR concluded by calling for record votes for the BRS party in the upcoming 2023 elections, highlighting the state's peaceful ten years under his leadership.

Emphasizing the state's 'Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb' (cultural syncretism), KCR assured the Muslim community of BRS's dedication to the development of the minority population. He revealed that BRS has allocated a substantial 12,000 crores towards the welfare of minorities.

The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled for November 30, with the results set to be announced on December 3. The current legislative assembly's term in Telangana concludes on January 16 of the following year.
