The annual Garba event organized by a mother-daughter duo at the Begumpet Hockey Stadium in Hyderabad turned into chaos on Monday, October 18, as allegations of 'love jihad' by a right-wing group disrupted the festivities.
According to witnesses who preferred to remain anonymous, the trouble began when Bajrang Dal activists raised accusations that a 'Muslim man' had entered the event with intentions related to 'love jihad.' The incident was widely shared on social media, with advocate Neelam Bhargava Ram, the joint convenor of the BJP Legal Cell, and various YouTube channels endorsing the video as evidence of 'love jihad.' Earlier, suspended BJP leader and Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh had cautioned the garba organizers about the alleged 'love jihad' conspiracy.
In the circulated video, the accused 'Muslim man' is surrounded by a group of 'Hindu youth' who interrogate him about his identity and faith. Bajrang Dal released a statement claiming that the man had changed his name to 'Ashish' but was actually 'Fareed Shah.' The organization stated that they had questioned him and then handed him over to the Begumpet police.
However, when approached for comment, Begumpet Station House Officer Bhaskar Juttu refuted the claims made by the Bajrang
