"Farmers Face Choice: Current or Congress, Says KTR"

"The BJP's Firm Stand on Borewell Meters Grips State"

Hyderabad: The BRS on Saturday warned farmers that their lives would be enveloped in darkness if they chose to vote for the Congress, claiming that its leaders completely lack understanding of agriculture and the needs of farmers.

"Farmers must ask themselves what they want. 24-hour current or Congress," BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said, addressing a press conference on Saturday.

"If the Congress is voted to power, farmers will be pushed back to how their lives were 10 years ago when that party was in power. Congress promised nine hours of power every day then, but could not give three or four hours, with farmers used to spend nights by their borewells," he said.

"All farmers had were exploding transformers, burnt motors and death from scorpion and snake bites, while waiting for power during nights so they can turn on their borewells to irrigate their fields," Rama Rao said.

He said: "It is only now, after 10 years of KCR’s government that prioritised farmers, that the agriculture community is recovering. There are no more crop holidays because we have 24-hour power supply. Congress wants to see Telangana farmers’ eyes full of tears of sadness. This is what Congress has in store for the state’s farmers if it is voted to power."

"On the other hand," he said, "the BJP practically held the state at knifepoint, by insisting on the installation of meters at agricultural borewells, but the BRS government did not agree and did not mind losing Rs 30,000 crore in Central loans."

"The BRS focus on farmers, be it by providing irrigation, 24-hour power, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, has made the state the number one in paddy production, up from 68 lakh tonnes in 2024 to 3.5 crore tonnes now," Rama Rao said.-
