Congress and CPI are natural allies, says Uttam

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy participates in district CPI meeting

As part of the election campaign, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Congress MP Candidate Raghuveer Reddy donned the CPI colours and attended the CPI district party meet today in Nalgonda Parliament constituency.

Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the collaboration between the Congress party and the Communist Party of India (CPI) in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections has garnered significant public support.

Speaking at the district CPI meeting on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy praised the CPI's decision to support Congress candidates across Telangana State. He noted that the CPI has not only verbally declared its support but also aligned its members with Congress workers, creating a strong coalition in all constituencies throughout Telangana.

Mentioning similar ideological stances, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the common ground between the Congress party and CPI. He mentioned that both parties uphold secularism as a core value, supporting a clear separation between religion and state while advocating for the rights of religious minorities in India.

Furthermore, Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasised that both parties share a commitment to social justice, aiming to improve the welfare of marginalised communities, such as Dalits, Adivasis, Backward Classes, and other underprivileged groups. They also support pro-poor policies, labour rights, minimum wages, and measures designed to uplift society's working class and economically disadvantaged segments.

He mentioned that the Congress party and CPI have both engaged in coalition politics in India. The Congress party has led coalition governments, while the CPI has joined coalitions with leftist and secular parties to counter communal or right-wing forces. This time, CPI is part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) coalition.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party and CPI oppose right-wing nationalist ideologies, positioning themselves as alternatives to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other right-wing parties. Despite their ideological differences, he noted, both parties are committed to India's democratic framework, advocating for free and fair elections, civil liberties, and democratic governance.

He criticised the BJP and BRS parties for failing to fulfill their promises to the people of Telangana. He claimed that the BJP-led Central Government had not implemented any of the commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly insulting and depriving Telangana of its fair share of funds and projects. He alleged that the previous BRS Government failed to stand up to the injustices done to Telangana, as the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was busy making false promises.

Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress party has released a special manifesto with 23 specific promises for Telangana, including the establishment of a Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, the construction of a Steel Plant at Bayyaram, and the setup of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad. The manifesto also promises a Rapid Railway System from Hyderabad to Vijayawada along the National Highway, a University of Mining, and the revival of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project, which the BJP Government cancelled.

The other promises include establishing a NITI Aayog Regional Office in Hyderabad, new airports, and constructing the Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line. Additionally, the Congress party intends to develop industrial corridors between Hyderabad and various other cities, such as Bangalore, Nagpur, Warangal, Miryalaguda, and Nalgonda. The Congress Government in Telangana also plans to grant national status to the Medaram’s Sammakka Saralamma Jatara and set up a Supreme Court Bench in Hyderabad.

Uttam Kumar Reddy asserted that the BRS party would become irrelevant after the Lok Sabha elections as it would not win a single seat. He said that the people of Telangana would teach the BJP a fitting lesson for neglecting the state
