Hyderabad: The Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday announced Gellu Srinivas Yadav as the party’s candidate for the by-poll to Huzurabad assembly constituency.
Gellu Srinivas Yadav is likely to take on the former health minister and BJP leader Etela Rajender after he resigned from the Huzurabad assembly constituency. He was dismissed from the KCR’s cabinet over the allegations of grabbing land assigned to the Dalits in his constituency. Following which Etela quit the Assembly seat and joined the BJP.
The Election Commission is yet to announce a notification for the by-poll.
The Huzurabad by-poll assumes significance as the TRS supremo KCR wishes to decimate the BC leader politically after he joined the BJP.
Gellu Srivivas Yadav hails from Himmatnagar village in Veenavanka mandal from Huzurabad constituency.
He is the state president of the TRS students' association since 2017. He took an active role in the Telangana statehood movement from 2004.
The Congress is yet to announce its candidate.
Of the total 2.26 lakh voters in the Huzurabad constituency, over 1.20 lakh belong to backward class communities.
