Hyderabad: Green India Challenge announced yet another noble venture of planting Jammi or Spunge tree sapling in all villages and temples in Telangana.

To highlight medicinal and therapeutic properties of this amazing tree, Green India Challenge founder and Joginipally Santosh Kumar proposed Vooriko Jammi Chettu- Gudi, Gudi Ko Jammi Chettu. 

The poster of this program was released by J Santosh Kumar, Minister for Forests and Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and advisor to government K V Ramanachari.

Jammi Chettu carries a lot of religious significance on the occasion of Dasara. It is a practice to exchange the leaves of this tree as a sign of prosperity and happiness. Minister Indrakaran Reddy said that the efforts will be taken to popularize the significance of this amazing tree across the state. 

Advisor Ramanachari said that KCR garu decided to announce Jammi Chettu as its state tree, soon after the formation of state, as it carries a great significance from Vedic days. They congratulated Santosh Kumar on this occasion.
