AILU Condemns Attack on Priest of Chilkuru Balaji Temple, Vows to Support Legal Action
Hyderabad, February 15, 2025 – A delegation from the All India Lawyers Union (AILU) Telangana State Committee met with C.S. Rangarajan, the priest of the Chilkuru Balaji Temple, today to express solidarity and condemn the violent attack against him. The priest was assaulted by one Veera Raghava Reddy and his associates, who reportedly made illegal demands for money and attempted to coerce him into joining their self-proclaimed "Ram Sena"—a parallel illegal army.
During the assault, Raghava Reddy allegedly struck the priest in the face, claiming to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva, and threatened severe consequences if his instructions were not followed. The delegation condemned the incident, describing it as an egregious attack on both the individual and the sanctity of religious practices.
The AILU delegation, led by K. Pardhasaradhi, General Secretary of the Telangana State Committee, expressed strong disapproval of the actions and pledged full support to the priest in pursuing legal action against the perpetrators. C. Ramachandra Reddy, Secretary of the AILU Hyderabad Committee, also attended the meeting, along with Ali Hyder (LSFI Convenor, Telangana State Committee), N. Madhava Reddy, R. Sudarshan, and others.
The delegation assured the priest of their legal assistance, promising to stand firm in ensuring justice is served. In response, the priest thanked the delegation for their support and requested their continued help as the matter progresses.
