Congress leaders offer 'Dhatti' to Bibi Ka Alam

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (INN): Led by Hyderabad Congress Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah, a delegation of Congress leaders visited Bibi Ka Alawa in Dabirpura of Old City of Hyderabad   and presented traditional 'Dhatti' and 'Nazrana' to the Alam on behalf of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

Congress senior leaders including TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, Youth Congress Vice President Aamer Javeed, TPCC Organising Secretary Osman Mohammed Khan, TPCC Secretary Sajjid Shareef, TPCC Minorities Dept Vice-Chairman Zaheer Lalani, contested Corporator Asker Ali Baig, Youth Congress General Secretary Shahbaz Khan and other leaders of TPCC and Youth Congress were part of the delegation.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Sameer Waliullah said that the Congress leaders have offered 'dhatti' to the Bibi Ka Alam as part of over 400-year tradition of Hyderabad. He said Congress leaders have also prayed for the well-being of entire humanity and the end of the ongoing Covid pandemic. They also prayed for the return of the Congress party to power in Telangana in the 2023 Assembly elections.

Sameer Waliullah expressed displeasure over the reported delay in the release of funds to Ashoor Khanas by the State Government. He said that the people of Hyderabad, belonging to all communities, observe Moharram at a grand scale across the twin cities. However, the managements faced a lot of difficulties due to delay in the release of funds for making necessary arrangements to facilitate the visit of thousands of people to Ashoor Khanas. He also condemned a cut in funds for making Moharram arrangements.

He demanded that elaborate arrangements should be made for the 'Yaum-e-Ashura' and procession on 10th of Moharram falling on August 19.

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin appealed to the people to follow Covid guidelines while participating in the Moharram procession and other programmes. He said that it was the duty of all citizens to respect, protect and practice the centuries-old tradition which provided a distinct identity to Hyderabad.

Later, the Congress leaders also visited the ‘Sabeel’ and distributed free food among the devotees.
