Hyderabad: In a shocking incident a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her neighbour at Singareni colony in Hyderabad on Thursday. Tension gripped the area after scores of people staged protests and blocked roads at Champapet and Karmanghat.
Heavy police forces including a quick reaction team was deployed in the area and routes leading to IS Sadan and Saidabad were diverted. The protestors demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation to the deceased’s family. The girl went missing on Thursday afternoon and the family searched for her in the area but she was not traced, a police complaint was lodged with the local police.
“The child’s grandmother went to market at 5 pm and returned home at 6.30 pm. Meanwhile, the girl’s mother was busy in the kitchen preparing rotis while the girl was playing nearby. On her return the grandmother realized the girl was missing and enquired with their neighbour, who feigned ignorance and told them to search properly,” said the woman who lives in the locality.
The mother of the girl grew suspicious over her neighbour, since he too went missing. The parents of the victim with the help of police searched for their daughter, upon which her dead body wrapped in a bed sheet was allegedly found at the accused house. Soon after the dead body of the girl was found officials observed that she was semi naked and there were bite marks. The public anger burst into outrage and the locality people started pelting stones. When police were shifting the victim's body, protesters obstructed the police action.
Additional forces were pressed into the area and the crime scene was cordoned off.
