Raja, who is also the general secretary of the National Federation of Women of India, alleged that the central and state governments have completely failed to curb the heinous sexual crimes against women in the country. An effigy of rapists was set ablaze at Hyderabad, Himayat Nagar, Y Junction on Thursday under the auspices of the National Federation of Women of India and Telangana Rashtra Samithi to protest the rape, sexual violence and murder of women and students. Raja, who was present as the chief guest at the protest, said that according to central government data, one woman is raped every 15 minutes in India, especially Dalit women who are subjected to sexual violence and other assaults. She said local police often fail to prevent and investigate such crimes in all states, and rape victims and their families are fighting for justice. Raja demanded that the central and state governments bring in arming plans and tougher laws to improve the safety of women in India and protect them from sexual violence, saying that rapes and murders are rampant in the country without leaving women as well as infants. Dr. Rajini, National Vice President, National Federation of Indian Women, and Ustela Srijana, General Secretary, State President. Nedunuri Jyoti, leaders Krishna Kumari, Yadamma, Girija, Ashwini, Anjum, Maheshwari, Haimawati, Rajeshwari and others participated.
