In a bid to formalize their businesses and gain official recognition, around 100 street vendors gathered at the GHMC Zonal Office in Moosapet, Kukatpally, Hyderabad. They collectively submitted letters to the Zonal Commissioner requesting vendor certificates and ID cards.

National Hawker Foundation (NHF) President, Mir Inyath Ali Baqri, led the delegation to the UCD Office urging the authorities to implement the Street Vendor Act of 2014 (presumably 2024). Baqri emphasized the importance of issuing ID cards and vendor certificates to empower street vendors, who he described as crucial contributors to public welfare.

Baqri highlighted the essential role street vendors play in providing affordable food items to the public, selling at reasonable prices compared to restaurants. He stressed that certifying these vendors would not only legitimize their businesses but also ensure that approximately 1000 underprivileged individuals could benefit from their services.

The initiative reflects a collective effort to formalize the street vending sector, acknowledging its significance in serving communities while providing economic opportunities to marginalized individuals.
