2025 Union Budget: KTR Expresses Disappointment for Telangana

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized the 2025 Union Budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday, February 1, calling it a disappointment for Telangana. Sitharaman delivered her eighth consecutive Union Budget, marking the 14th budget under the Modi government.

In a post on X, KTR expressed that the budget offered little for the people of Telangana, and the long-awaited promises from the Union government remained unfulfilled. “Telangana couldn’t secure any special assistance beyond the mandatory finance devolutions and central grants,” KTR’s post stated.

KTR further criticized the finance minister for tailoring the budget to cater to the people of Delhi, where Assembly elections are imminent. “The budget appears to have focused more on the upcoming Delhi and Bihar elections rather than taking a pan-India approach,” KTR added. He also pointed out the budget’s failure to honor the AP Reorganization Act of 2014 by not allocating funds for the establishment of a Tribal University.

“It is unfortunate that the 8+8 formula has once again amounted to ZERO for Telangana,” KTR concluded.
